Doc Tate Nevaquaya, a member of the Comanche Indian tribe of Oklahoma, he was also known as Joyce Lee Tate. A career of multi-talents he was a painter, teacher, minister, dancer, and a musician. He studied at the Fort Sill Indian School in Lawton, Oklahoma and the Haskel Indian Nations University.
